Spawned by this tweet, actually:
As a fan, it’s a joy to see Robbie Williams sing alongside his original Take That band mates for a Meerkat Music online special. If I’m not mistaken, the last time Williams performed with Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen was two years ago at the 2018 X-Factor finale where the former serves as a judge.
It wasn’t really a surprise Williams showed up for this online special. On few occasions after leaving Take That for a second time, he’d casually banter about joining the remaining trio in future tours, depending on his schedule. (This Meerkat gig is so easy, no need to be somewhere else, just perform in your own house.)
Some folks are still wondering why Jason Orange wasn’t part of the reunion. It can be remembered that Orange amicably parted ways with the group in 2014 not long after the relatively short-lived return of Williams. Would have really been a treat if he showed up to complete the five.
As for the Meerkat Music performance, it was fun to watch. When they were singing their classic “Pray”, I found it both hilarious and awkward that Howard, Gary, and Mark faithfully executed the dance steps associated with the song while Robbie just, well, calmly swayed to it.
Update: Here’s the encore, in case you missed it:
They say never write when you’re angry. Understandable. It is extremely difficult for me to say anything cohesive about how MERALCO is continuing with its grand swindling of its consumers by forcing them to pay for electricity they didn’t actually use.
And where are your usual noisy politicos and activists that grumble at every move the government makes? Oh, they’re so mum in all these since they are close friends and associates of the oligarchs that (mis)manage the country’s electricity services. They can’t even carry the cudgels for the common tao when it matters the most. (They’re only good at toppling presidents that don’t serve the interests of the greedy elitists.)
They probably even have special arrangements with the power provider, who knows, maybe even free electricity. Anything is possible in this ultra-crooked rich-controlled system we have here.
The nerve of these MERALCO people to even say that we “wait” for the “corrected” bill to be issued soon. If they really wanted, they could have given us all the real numbers and actual consumption at the get-go. Later on, they will have the temerity to unceremoniously cut off services to households who decide to sit out and wait for the factual readings before settling their dues.
Damn you, power oligarchs and your coddlers!
Well, the COVID-19 lockdown/quarantine is going to be extended until, at least, the end of May here in Metro Manila. I took the opportunity to try other food services that allow delivery or pickup in order to add to food stocks at home. Ended up checking out KMall Philippines.
Since I love noodles, I wound up getting some. (I ordered 20 items. Photo shows the products I picked.) I carefully waded through the product catalog, double-checking translations just to make sure I am not getting any of those ridiculously hot and spicy ones. I don’t want to pass burning hot poop ever again. There, I said it. (But it looks like the Chicken with Cheese variant says “Hot” in it. I didn’t notice it during order time. Oh, well.)
